Yahoo! answers recently stated that the tiger pistol shrimp emitted the highest decibel sound on earth (200 decibels). Has the any military group conducted research into using sound wave weapons based on the tiger pistol shrimp?
Many military and civilian scientists are hard at work studying the phenomenon that pistol shrimp use to stun their prey. This phenomenon is called sonoluminescence, whereby an air bubble is harmonized by sound into becoming hotter than the surface of the sun. The snap that is generated by this superheated air bubble is what makes the pistol shrimp so loud that the sound stuns and can even kill their prey.
But it is this ability to make something so hot with little outside energy that is being studied so vigorously. It defies all conventional laws of physics and is this phenomenon that is the basis for cold fusion theories. Einstein described something called zero point energy that could be the source of this power. Some say that Nickola Tesla knew how to harness this free source of unlimited energy (he called his engine a plasma ball) and that he constructed a weapon that could level a city from 250 miles away with it. However, he took those secrets with him to the grave. In time, scientists will inevitably be able to unlock this for the benefit and endangerment of all mankind.
