There have been a -lot- of stories about ‘Tesla Machines’ which could do various things (anti-gravity, time-travel, etc.). A variant is the one about the Naval vessel that was made to ‘vanish’ and then ‘re-appear’ in the Philadelphia harbor by some variation of a ‘Tesla Machine’.
Tesla never wrote a word about such things and, brilliant ‘tho he was, it’s doubtful if any such machine ever crossed his mind.

Tesla was credited with a lot of whack ideas that the government supposedly appropriated and developed in highly top-secret ways.
