I am literally in love with the Nancy Drew games but can’t decide what to play next.
I have played:
~ Secrets Can Kill Remastered (It was a little short and fun I guess)
~ The Final Scene (Finished in 4 hours and it was okay I guess, a lot of just walking around and not much note taking had to be done)
~ Curse of Blackmoor Manor (This one was pretty perfect. Everyone says it’s super scary but coming from someone who is afraid of everything, I didn’t find it too scary, just the whole scene was dark and eerie but apart from that is was fun having to take down notes and solve puzzles is what I love)
~ Secret of the Old Clock (Was pretty fun all around and I didn’t find it boring like some people say even though it wasn’t scary at all)
~ Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon (Was also quite fun, I love having to take heaps of notes which I did for this one, and it got a bit tricky which made it longer)
~ Danger By Design (This is my favourite. Having to go around and do heaps of things for people was really fun and the puzzles and games made it fun even though it was very light and nothing scary happened)
~ Legend of the Crystal Skull (This was also a great game, it got difficult with the eyeball search in the cemetaries but overall was fun with a bit of spookiness)
~ Warnings at Waverly Academy (Another one of my favourites, having to do those games like darts and the canteen duty made the game even better!)
~ Alibi in the Ashes (This was an okay game, it got a bit boring but it was fun..)
So yeah those are the games I have played and my opinion on them. Which game do you think I should get now? I guess I like a bit of spookiness because it keeps a game interesting, and I like doing little tasks for people and puzzles and I love having to take down notes for later in the game. What are your favourites?
Also, I will never play Shadow at the Waters Edge. That is waaaay too scary for me!! If you recommend a game could you please note if anything jumps out at you? You don’t have to say when and where, just tell me if something does so I can be prepared haha. Thanks
I know you said you won’t, but seriously play Shadow at the Water’s Edge. It really is not that scary. Its the longest game i’ve ever played.. there are so many things you can do and I think it was the game that was TRULY worth the money I paid. Just suck it up and play because you’ll love it and wonder why you were too scared to play it when you do!
But, to continue my list..
Secret of the Shadow Ranch (i think it’s called…) is a light/brighter themed game but I felt it was very engaging… always something to do.. enough talking to make the game well rounded but not too much that you are sitting bored at your computer… It takes place in an Arizona Ranch which gives a great (and very different) theme. The atmosphere is just different and I love the change from the usual castles/mansions… this game was easy enough that I never felt the need to ask for help on my first try but long enough that I wasted hours playing it. I would definitely give this game a shot..
White Wolf of Icicle Creek. This game was definitely a game that was also worth the money. My only complaint was that when she would walk long distances.. she would do that walking cutscene that felt like it took forever sometimes. But that was really just a little complaint. It takes place in a lodge/hotel in Canada where you are the maid/cook and you just try to solve the mystery while being undercover. The lodge is actually really cute/cozy.. The game is also one that you do so much and there are so many places to explore. Its a game that I am usually always in the mood to play.
Treasure in a Royal tower is an old/classic game but the best of it’s time! Also another well-rounded game with many places to go and people to talk to. It takes place in a hotel/castle in Wisconsin that was built be French people or made in France. It deals a lot with Marie Antoinette, her history, and obviously a treasure.. I played this game probably the most but that’s mainly because it was one of the only games I owned when I was little of Nancy Drew..
Phantom of Venice. This game is another really long one. I remember every time I play I think I’m at the end but then I find out I still have more to do. Which I personally think is a good thing. The games (on full price) don’t come cheap for what most are worth. Like, how you said you finished Final Scene in 4 hours.. that (in my opinion) makes the game not worth the money. This game takes place in Italy which is obvious but its also nice to be immersed in the italian culture and you do learn a bit italian! Beautiful scenery while still remaining a great game.
Danger on Deception Island.. I personally liked the game. It has a bit of a gloomy (but not spooky) atmosphere because of the constant fog and everything but the game itself was definitely enjoyable. I forgot where this game took place at specifically but it’s all on a shore where you can go kayaking and clam fishing… the theme is very aquatic. And lots of whales.
The Deadly Device. This is their second newest game (and i’ve played them all except the newest one which is The Ghost of Thornton Hall).. and for many reasons.. the newer games have not been that good. I didn’t LOVE this game (deadly device) but it’s a game that i’ve already replayed and it does have some good aspects that make it enjoyable. It takes place in a laboratory/science research facility. It deals with Tesla (the scientist) and his discoveries along with you solving a murder. It kind of was kind of a mixure of Secrets Can Kill and Alibi in Ashes. I would keep this on your list and if you already go through all the other ones, you can give this a shot but you don’t have to play it if you don’t feel like it.
And a word to the wise…
NEVER play Trail of the Twister, Ransom of the Seven Ships, or Tomb of the Lost Queen. A waste of money in my opinion.
