Why isn’t anyone talking about Electric Cars??

Is this the great secret that neither candidate talks about?
It looks like Israel is going 100% electric in a 3 year span
http://news.cnet.com/8301-11128_3-9854591-54.html. The companies
Renault-Nissan will be supplying their electric cars.
Also GM had the EV1 in 2000 in California with charging stations but big
oil got involved and GM took all EV1 cars back from their owners and crushed
every last one of them, watch “who killed the electric car” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vD33UMAtBY)
There are companies today like Tesla Motors that are making 100% electric
cars as well (www.tesla.com)
These car go over 200 miles per charge and over 80 mph!
With Solar, Wind and Charging stations wouldn’t this make the most sense?
instead of talking about off shore drilling, or does Big Oil truly run our
country?

Chosen Answer:

The alt fuels such as cng, hydrogen ,solar, & ethanol are in serious works now. But your right. Big oil killed all research or delayed it in the past. Now we are all suffering. However, the Chevy Volt will go into production soon. It’s going to be another good two years I should think before everyone has an alt fuel car in production completely. We have plenty of cars & trucks that run on E85, but we need cars that are completely free of petrol use. As I have suggested before, oil will always be around until our deaths. But what you need to do is free yourself of oil dependancy. Buy one of those alt fuel cars. Or at least get one that gets really good fuel economy.

First, Big Oil truly does run our country, at least for now. Second, all I hear about is electric cars. Day after day after day. I like your idea of powering them with renewable energy, but for now, and electric car in my area (Oklahoma) would probably get it’s electricity from a coal fired plant, which is worse than using gasoline.
This will all come to pass once gas gets above $6 per gallon and stays there for a while.

Yes, oil runs our country. 10 years ago Saturn came out with a few prototypes on all electric cars. Lobbyist for the big oil companies squashed it.

Just the other day McCain proposed $300 million for anyone who could invent a superior EV battery.

While I agree EVs probably don’t get as much attention as they should in the US, there certainly are plenty of people talking about them.

  5. Wolf Harper says:

America has more electric cars than any country in the world. Individuals have built them themselves, converted gas cars to electric, so they’re “off the radar”.

That’s about to change though, the rest of the world doesn’t suffer our hesitation about electrics, our insistence that they’re unmarketable unless they can go 300 miles, brew coffee and fly.

Unfortunately it’s not easy to import those because we have tough collision safety standards in this country.
